Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 And a company of the later peoples. 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 Neither cool nor beneficial. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones? 47 And our forefathers [as well]?" 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 shall all eat from the Tree of al-Zaqqum, 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom. 56 We created you, why will you not believe! 57 Have you ever considered that [seed] which you emit? 58 Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated 60 Had We so wished, nothing could have hindered Us from replacing you by others like yourselves, or transforming you into beings you know nothing about. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 “We have been penalised; 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 Consider the water that you drink. 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
