The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
