The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
