The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a few from later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 and waters gushing, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
