'Abasa
He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fearfully, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 wife and sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
