The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
