The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
44 verses, revealed in Mecca after Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah) before The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
There hath asked an asker for the torment about to befall. 1 to those who deny the truth. No power can hinder God 2 (A Penalty) from Allah, Lord of the Ways of Ascent. 3 The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. 4 Therefore, [O believer,] endure all adversity with goodly patience: 5 Indeed, they see it [as] distant, 6 while We think that it is near at hand. 7 The day when the sky will become as molten copper, 8 and the mountains will become like dyed tufts of wool, 9 and [when] no friend will ask about his friend, 10 Though they will be put in sight of each other,- the sinner's desire will be: Would that he could redeem himself from the Penalty of that Day by (sacrificing) his children, 11 and of his spouse, and of his brother, 12 and his kinsfolk who had stood by him, 13 and whosoever is in the earth, all together, so that then it might deliver him. 14 No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell], 15 Dragging by the head, 16 It will claim all such as turn their backs [on what is right,] and turn away [from the truth,] 17 and amassed wealth and hoarded it. 18 ۞ Surely man is created of a hasty temperament 19 Irritable (discontented) when evil touches him; 20 And refraining, when good reaches him. 21 Except those who establish prayer. 22 and constant in their prayers. 23 And those in whose wealth exists a recognised right, 24 for the needy and the deprived, 25 And those who hold to the truth of the Day of Judgment; 26 And those who are fearful of their Lord's doom - 27 Surely the chastisement of their Lord is (a thing) not to be felt secure of-- 28 And those who protect their private organs (from adultery). 29 Except with their wives and the (women slaves and captives) whom their right hands possess, for (then) they are not to be blamed, 30 but whoever goes beyond this is a transgressor; 31 and those who fulfil their trusts and their covenants, 32 And those who stand firm in their testimonies; 33 And those who are mindful of their moral obligations. 34 Those shall be in Gardens, high-honoured. 35

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
