The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
