Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
