The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
