Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
