The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
