Nay! By the moon 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mortals, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 From the guilty. 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
