The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
