No, by the moon! 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They said, "We never used to offer the prayer." 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 running away from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
