The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ THE MOST GRACIOUS 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 Created man, 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 The plants and trees prostrate before Him. 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
