To the Thamud people (We sent) Salih, one of their own brethren: He said: "O my people! worship Allah: ye have no other god but Him. Now hath come unto you a clear (Sign) from your Lord! This she-camel of Allah is a Sign unto you: So leave her to graze in Allah's earth, and let her come to no harm, or ye shall be seized with a grievous punishment. 73 Remember when He made you successors to the 'Ad and settled you in the land. You built palaces on its plains and carved houses out of the mountains. Remember God's blessings and do not spread corruption in the land," 74 The leaders of those who were arrogant among his people said to those who were counted weak - to such of them as believed: "Know you that Salih (Saleh) is one sent from his Lord." They said: "We indeed believe in that with which he has been sent." 75 Those who were scornful said: Lo! in that which ye believe we are disbelievers. 76 So they hamstrung the she-camel and rebelled against the command of their Lord and said, “O Saleh! Bring upon us what you promise us, if you are a Noble Messenger.” 77 So the earthquake seized them, and they became within their home [corpses] fallen prone. 78 So Salih left them, saying: "O my people! I did indeed convey to you the message for which I was sent by my Lord: I gave you good counsel, but ye love not good counsellors!" 79 And We sent Lut, when he said unto his people: commit ye an indecency wherewith none hath preceded you in the worlds? 80 You approach men lustfully in place of women. You are a people who exceed all bounds.' 81 And the answer of his people was only that they said (one to another): Turn them out of your township. They are folk, forsooth, who keep pure. 82 Then We delivered him and his household, save his wife: she was among the lingerers. 83 and We rained down upon them a rain. So look how was the end of the evildoers. 84
