Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 for an appointed time." 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures - unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]: 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
