He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fearfully, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
