[Remember] when Abraham said, "My Lord, make this a city of peace and help me and my children to keep away from worshipping idols. 35 My Lord! They have caused many people to go astray. Now, if anyone follows my way, he is from me; and if anyone follows a way opposed to mine, then surely You are Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful." 36 "Lord, I have settled some of my offspring in a barren valley near your Sacred House so that they could be steadfast in prayer. Lord, fill the hearts of the people with love for them and produce fruits for their sustenance so that they may give thanks. 37 Lord, You know all that we conceal or reveal. Nothing in the heavens or the earth is hidden from God. 38 All praise be to God who bestowed on me Ishmael and Isaac in old age. Verily my Lord listens to prayer. 39 [hence,] O my Sustainer, cause me and [some] of my offspring to remain constant in prayer! "And O our Sustainer, accept this my prayer: 40 Our Lord! forgive me and my parents and the believers on the Day whereon will be set up the reckoning. 41
