And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 The Lord inquired: "Iblis! What is the matter with you that you did not join those who prostrated?" 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 Iblis said, "Lord, because you have caused me to go astray, I shall make earthly things attractive to (people) and mislead all of them 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 “Indeed you do not have any power over My bondmen, except those wanderers who follow you.” (The devil is unsuccessful in tempting Allah’s chosen bondmen to commit sin.) 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
