When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
