And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown." 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
