The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance. 1 unswerving. To warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings to the believers who do good deeds that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 wherein they shall remain forever, 3 and to warn those who say, 'God has taken to Himself a son'; 4 Surely, of this they have no knowledge, neither they nor their fathers; it is a monstrous word that comes from their mouths, they say nothing but a lie. 5 Then maybe you will kill yourself with grief, sorrowing after them, if they do not believe in this announcement. 6 Surely We have made whatever is on the earth an embellishment for it, so that We may try them (as to) which of them is best in works. 7 And lo! We shall make all that is thereon a barren mound. 8 Do you think the men of the cave and Ar-Raqim were so strange among Our signs? 9 When the young men took refuge in the Cave – then said, “Our Lord! Give us mercy from Yourself, and arrange guidance for us in our affair.” 10 Then We smote their ears many years in the Cave. 11 Then We woke them up again so that We might see which of the two groups would better calculate the time they had stayed there. 12
