Moses said: "Lord! Open my breast for me; 25 and make my task easy for me. 26 and loosen the knot from my tongue 27 that they may understand my speech. 28 And give me as assistant from my family 29 "Aaron, my brother; 30 To strengthen me 31 and let him share my task, 32 so that we exalt You 33 and remember You much: 34 “Indeed You see us.” 35 Said He: "Thou art granted all that thou hast asked for, O Moses! 36 And indeed, another time, already We have shown thee favour, 37 Remember when We inspired your mother with a certain inspiration 38 “That, ‘Put him into a chest and cast it into the river, so the river shall deposit it on to a shore – therefore one who is an enemy to Me and you, shall pick him up’; and I bestowed upon you love from Myself; and for you to be brought up in My sight.” 39 Then your sister followed you, and said (to the people who had retrieved the child): 'Should I guide you to a person who can nurse him?' We thus brought you back to your mother that her heart may be cheered, and she may not grieve. (Remember) when you killed a man We saved you from anguish; and tested and steeled you (in other ways). Afterwards you sojourned for several years with the people of Midian; then you came up to the measure, 40 I have chosen you for Me. 41 "Go forth, [then,] thou and thy brother, with My messages, and never tire of remembering Me: 42 Go to Pharaoh, for he has waxed insolent; 43 Then speak to him a gentle word haply he may mind or fear. 44 They said, "Our Lord, indeed we are afraid that he will hasten [punishment] against us or that he will transgress." 45 He (Allah) said: "Fear not, verily! I am with you both, hearing and seeing. 46 So go to him and say: 'The two of us have indeed been sent by your Lord. So let the children of Israel come with us, and do not oppress them. We have come to you with a token from your Lord. Peace on him who follows the way of guidance. 47 It is revealed to us that a punishment will fall on those who belie and turn away." 48 (Pharaoh) said: Who then is the Lord of you twain, O Moses? 49 'Our Lord' he replied, 'is He Who gave everything its creation and then guided it' 50 He then asked, "What do you know about the past generations?" 51 He said, “Their knowledge is with my Lord, (recorded) in a Book; my Lord neither strays nor forgets.” 52 Who hath appointed the earth as a bed and hath threaded roads for you therein and hath sent down water from the sky and thereby We have brought forth divers kinds of vegetation, 53 So eat yourself and pasture your cattle. Surely there are many Signs in this for people of understanding. 54
