And undoubtedly Haroon had told them before it that, “O my people you have needlessly fallen into trial because of this; and indeed your Lord is the Most Gracious, therefore follow me and obey my command.” 90 'We will not cease,' they said, 'to cleave to it, until Moses returns to us.') 91 [And now that he had come back, Moses] said: "O Aaron! What has prevented thee, when thou didst see that they had gone astray, 92 “That you did not come after me? So did you disobey my order?” 93 He [Harun (Aaron)] said: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: 'You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word!' " 94 [Musa (Moses)] said: "And what is the matter with you. O Samiri? (i.e. why did you do so?)" 95 He replied: 'I saw what they did not see and seized a handful of dust from the foot print of the messenger and so I cast it; this my soul prompted me to do' 96 Musa (Moses) said: "Then go away! And verily, your (punishment) in this life will be that you will say: "Touch me not (i.e. you will live alone exiled away from mankind); and verily (for a future torment), you have a promise that will not fail. And look at your ilah (god), to which you have been devoted. We will certainly burn it, and scatter its particles in the sea." 97 Your only deity is God - He save whom there is no deity, [and who] embraces all things within His knowledge!" 98 (O Muhammad), thus do We recount to you the events of the past, and We have bestowed upon you from Ourself an admonition. 99 Whosoever turns away from it, upon the Day of Resurrection He shall bear a fardel, 100 and live in it for ever; how evil will that burden be for them on the Day of Resurrection. 101 on the Day when the trumpet is blown: for on that Day We will assemble all such as had been lost in sin, their eyes dimmed [by terror,] 102 They will slowly talk to each other and say, "Our life on earth was as short as ten days". 103 We know best what they will say, when their leader most eminent in conduct will say: "Ye tarried not longer than a day!" 104
