The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ NEAR HAS COME the reckoning for men, but they turn away in remissness. 1 No recent revival of the remembrance comes to them from their Lord, except that they play with it as they listen 2 Their hearts toying as with trifles. The wrong-doers conceal their private counsels, (saying), "Is this (one) more than a man like yourselves? Will ye go to witchcraft with your eyes open?" 3 He says: 'My Lord knows what is said in the heavens and the earth, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.' 4 Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). 5 Before them, not one of the communities which We destroyed believed either. Will these believe? 6 And We sent none before thee, but men to whom We made revelation -- question the People of the Remembrance, if you do not know -- 7 And We did not make them bodies not eating the food, and they were not to abide (forever). 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 Certainly We have revealed to you a Book in which is your good remembrance; what! do you not then understand? 10
