And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 So if you follow a man like yourself you will certainly be doomed. 34 Does he promise you that, after you have died and become [mere] dust and bones, you shall be brought forth [to a new life]? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 There is no other life than the life of the world. We shall live here and here shall we die; and we are not going to be raised again. 37 He is but a man who hath fabricated against God a lie, and in him we are not going to be believers. 38 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 39 Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful. 40 A blast struck them for a just cause, and We made them look like withered leaves. God keeps the unjust people away from His mercy. 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation can go before its term ends nor stay back. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa and his brother Haroun, with Our communications and a clear authority, 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture, that they may be guided. 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
