When your Lord called upon Moses: "Go to the wicked people, 10 the nation of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Me' 11 He said: "My Lord! I fear that they will brand me a liar. 12 And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me). 13 And they have a crime against me, therefore I fear that they may slay me. 14 He said: "Certainly not! So go both of you with Our Signs. We shall be with you listening to everything. 15 "And when you both come to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), say: 'We are the Messengers of the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists), 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? 18 And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful." 19 Replied [Moses]: "I committed it while I was still going astray; 20 So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. 21 And [as for] that favour of which thou so tauntingly remindest me - [was it not] due to thy having enslaved the children of Israel?" 22 Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?" 23 'He' (Moses) replied: 'is the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you believe' 24 (Firon) said to those around him: Do you not hear? 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers. 26 (Pharaoh) said: 'Surely, the Messenger who has been sent to you is mad!' 27 'He is the Lord of the East and the West' said he (Moses), 'and all that is between them, if you could understand' 28 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" 29 He said, 'What, even though I brought thee something so manifest?' 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, 32 And he drew out his hand, and it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
