The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 in an exposed parchment 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 and the uplifted roof 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
