The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
