HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?" 11 He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me; 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 They also have a sin against me, and I fear they will slay me.' 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 "So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds; 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 Fir'awn said: brought we not thee up amongst us as a child? And thou tarriedst amongst us for many years of thy life? 18 And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful." 19 Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray; 20 So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the apostles; 21 And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 The Pharaoh asked: "And what is the Lord of all the worlds?" 23 [Moses] answered: "[He is] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them: if you would but [allow yourselves to] be convinced!" 24 Said Firaun to those around him, “Are you not listening with attention?” 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 26 Said Firaun, “This (Noble) Messenger of yours, who has been sent towards you, has no intelligence!” 27 He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did but understand. 28 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners." 29 He said: even though I bring unto thee something manifest? 30 (The Pharaoh) said: "Then bring it, if you speak the truth." 31 Moses threw his staff and suddenly it became a serpent. 32 and he drew his hand (out of his armpit) and lo! it had become a shining object to the beholders. 33
