Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?" 11 He replied, "Lord, I am afraid that they will call me a liar. 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me." 14 [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 [Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'" 17 [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said [to Musa (Moses)]: "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us. 18 Yet you were ungrateful and have done the deed you did' 19 Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error. 20 I fled from you because I feared you. But my Lord has given me judgment and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel. 22 Pharaoh said: "And who is this Lord of the Universe?" 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 (The Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you hear?" 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 26 Said he, 'Surely your Messenger who was sent to you is possessed!' 27 He said: Lord of the east and the west and whatsoever is in-between, if ye understand. 28 Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." 29 He said, 'What, even though I brought thee something so manifest?' 30 (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!" 31 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers. 33
