And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "And forgive my paternal uncle - he is indeed astray." 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 nor any loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
