Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
