The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
