'Aad denied the messengers 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
