The tribe of Thamud rejected the Messengers. 141 Their brother Salih said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 142 Truly, I am a trustworthy messenger for you, 143 so fear God and obey me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 145 Will you be left secure in what is here; 146 amidst gardens and springs 147 And green crops (fields etc.) and date-palms with soft spadix. 148 "And you carve houses out of mountains with great skill. 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 and do not follow the biddings of those that go to excesses 151 Who make mischief in the land and do not act aright. 152 They said, "You are only bewitched and insane. 153 Thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! Come, then, forward with a token [of thy mission] if thou art a man of truth!" 154 He said, 'This is a she-camel; to her a draught and to you a draught, on a day appointed, 155 And touch her not with ill, lest there take hold of you the torment of a Mighty Day. 156 But they hamstrung her; and on the morrow were repentant, 157 for the suffering [predicted by Salih,] befell them [then and there]. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 158 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 159

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
