Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)? 142 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 143 Have fear of God and obey me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 145 Will you be left secure in this here, 146 amidst [these] gardens and springs 147 and cornfields and date-palms laden with juicy fruits? 148 "And you carve houses out of mountains with great skill. 149 "But fear Allah and obey me; 150 and obey not the commandment of the prodigal 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)." 152 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 153 You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful." 154 He said: 'Here is a shecamel. She shall have her share of water as you have yours on an appointed day. 155 And do not touch her with evil, lest the punishment of a grievous day should overtake you. 156 But they hamstrung her and then regretted it. 157 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 158 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 159
