Thamood, belied their Messengers. 141 when their brother Salih said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 142 I am for you an honest Messenger. 143 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 "Do you think that you will be left secure [forever] in the midst of what you have here and now? 146 “In gardens and water springs?” 147 and fields, and [these] palm-trees with slender spathes? 148 carving comfortable houses out of the mountains? 149 "Be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me, 150 and pay no heed to the counsel of those who are given to excesses 151 Who work corruption in the land and rectify not. 152 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 153 You are a mere mortal like us. Show us a miracle if you are telling the Truth". 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed. 155 And touch her not with ill, lest there take hold of you the torment of a Mighty Day. 156 Then they hamstrung her; and then they became regretful. 157 The punishment therefore seized them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 158 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159
