The tribe of Thamud also rejected the messengers. 141 Their brother Salih asked them, "Why do you not fear God? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds: 145 Do you believe that you will be left here to live securely in the present state 146 amidst gardens and springs 147 And green crops (fields etc.) and date-palms with soft spadix. 148 Will you still skilfully hew houses out of the mountains? 149 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me; 150 And obey not the command of the extravagant. 151 those who spread corruption on earth instead of setting things to rights!" 152 They said: thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 Thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! Come, then, forward with a token [of thy mission] if thou art a man of truth!" 154 He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day. 155 And do not touch her with evil, lest the punishment of a grievous day should overtake you. 156 But they killed her, and then they became regretful. 157 So the torment took hold of them: verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 158 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 159

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
