Then the people of Lot rejected the messengers. 160 When their brother Lut said unto them: fear ye not? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 "So fear Allah and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said, "Lot, if you do not give up preaching, you will certainly be expelled (from this town)". 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 We saved him and all of his family 170 Except an old woman among those who remained behind. 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
