Nay, by the moon, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
