The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 Go ye in, of all creatures, unto the males? 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said, "Lot, if you do not give up preaching, you will certainly be expelled (from this town)". 167 He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 So We delivered him and his family,- all 170 save an old woman among those that tarried; 171 We destroyed the others 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 175
