And verily it is a revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 and then they will exclaim, "Could we have a respite?" 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 and then what they were promised comes to them, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 Never have We destroyed a habitation till We had sent admonishers to them 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 And your movements among those who bow in homage to God. 219 Surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying sinner, 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets - it is the seduced who follow them. 224 Observest thou not, that they wander about every vale. 225 And that they say that which they do not? 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
Almighty Allah's Truth.
