Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
