In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
