Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
A. L. M. 1 These are revelations of the wise Scripture, 2 A guidance and a mercy for the good, 3 Those who keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and they are certain of the hereafter. 4 Such are on guidance from their Lord, and such are the successful. 5 Some men there are who buy diverting talk to lead astray from the way of God without knowledge, and to take it in mockery; those -- there awaits them a humbling chastisement. 6 When Our revelations are recited to them, they turn back on their heels out of pride as if they did not hear them or their ears had been sealed off. Warn them of the painful torment. 7 Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them are the Gardens of Pleasure. 8 To abide therein. It is a Promise of Allah in truth. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 9 He [it is who] has created the skies without any supports that you could see, and has placed firm mountains upon the earth, lest it sway with you, and has caused all manner of living creatures to multiply thereon. And We send down water from the skies, and thus We cause every noble kind [of life] to grow on earth. 10 This is the creation of Allah; shew me that which those beside Him have created. Aye! the wrong-doers are in error manifest. 11
