Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 Those are the verses of the Wise Book, 2 A guidance and a mercy for the doers of goodness, 3 Those who keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and they are certain of the hereafter. 4 They follow the guidance of their Lord and they will have everlasting happiness. 5 There are some people who would purchase distracting talk, to lead astray from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and take it in mockery; for those is a humiliating punishment. 6 And when Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment. 7 Surely, those who believe and do good works shall enter gardens of bliss, 8 to abide therein in accordance with God's true promise: for He alone is almighty, truly wise. 9 He has created the skies without any support that you could see, and has placed firm mountains upon the earth, lest it sway with you, and has caused all manner of living creatures to multiply thereon. And We sent down water from the skies, and thus We made every kind of excellent plant grow there: 10 This is the creation of Allah; shew me that which those beside Him have created. Aye! the wrong-doers are in error manifest. 11
