And a sign to them is the dead earth: We give life to it and bring forth from it grain so they eat of it. 33 And We place therein gardens of the date-palms and vines; and We therein cause to gush forth springs. 34 so that they might eat of its fruit and the labor of their hands. Will they not give thanks? 35 Glory to Allah, Who created in pairs all things that the earth produces, as well as their own (human) kind and (other) things of which they have no knowledge. 36 And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness. 37 And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. 38 And the moon, We have determined it in phases till it returns like an old palmbranch. 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their seed in the laden ship, 41 And have created for them of the like thereof whereon they ride. 42 And if We please, We can drown them, then there shall be no succorer for them, nor shall they be rescued 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 And [yet,] when they are told, "Beware of [God's insight into] all that lies open before you and all that is hidden from you, so that you might be graced with His mercy," [most men choose to remain deaf;] 45 And not a sign cometh unto them of the signs of their Lord, but they are ever backsliders therefrom. 46 And when it is said to them: Spend out of what Allah has given you, those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Shall we feed him whom, if Allah please, He could feed? You are in naught but clear error. 47 And they say: When will this threat come to pass, if you are truthful? 48 They will not have to wait long. When the Day of Judgment comes, it will only take a single blast of sound to strike them while they are quarrelling with one another. 49 Then they would not be able to make a will, or go back to their people. 50
